After 6 years of concepting, market-testing a new framework for building high quality connections at work: The Knock Method®, interviewing inspiring leaders who cultivate human connection to make a greater impact on our world, researching, and navigating the publishing world – oh, and a little bit of writing, it felt like KNOCK publication day was the end of a very long journey. And, it was. But, it was an end disguised as a beginning.
On the 1 year anniversary of the publication of my now bestselling career development book, KNOCK: How to Open Doors and Build Career Relationships that Matter, I am reflecting back on the many doors that were opened after the book was released out into the world. The many people I crossed paths with at various points in my life who turned back around into my life to support me, buy the book, and share it with their community. Relationships were rekindled, and new ideas were spread further than one could imagine.
I received a note from my 8th grade Speech teacher who saw my on the news in El Paso!
After posting a picture of me pointing out copies of the book stocked at the Boulder Book Store in Colorado, the next day, I woke up to a Linkedin post with a picture of a colleague from my very first job out of college about 14 years prior outside the book store after popping in on a vacation with a BIG smile and a copy of KNOCK in his hand!
I received a Facebook message from a sorority sister of mine who saw KNOCK at the University of Texas Co-Op bookstore, with a picture and a note sharing that she bought a copy when she recognized the author!
Because of a KNOCK giveaway, I was introduced to a new friend and colleague who not only shared her enthusiasm for the ideas and strategies in the book for cultivating high quality career relationships on Linkedin, she invited me to deliver a workshop for a Career Development Employee Resource Group of 50 coworkers at her company.
What’s Next for KNOCK and The Knock Method?
